Taming the sax page problem ??

on this page of taming the Sax:

    http://tamingthesaxophone.com/saxoph...rs-scales.html

I don't see the various scale names in the grey boxes to the left of the staircase.
If I click on the grey boxes, the various steps of the staircase change to show the different scales but I don't know which scales they represent.

I am running Firefox 10.0 (updated today).
I have never looked at the pages before, so I don't know if it's a recent problem, related to the firefox update or if it has been like this before.

Ditto - I am on Firefox 10 as well

However if I use IE 8 [also installed on same computer] it works as it should ...

So it would indicate its a Firefox display problem ...

It seems that browsers are actually getting worse with the way they display Flash.

I have changed it to HTML so it should work now, though with next and previous buttons instead of a menu of names on the left (which I will work on)

You may need to empty cache or reset your browser.
Let me know and thanks for the feedback!

That's good. The problem is with a Flash version I could easily have audio files playing the scales which might be useful.

But what with all these browsers not playing fair, and what with iPads etc. then it's best to not use Flash.

I have now "improved" it (hopefully) for al browsers, please try it.

I have found a way to display it with the navigation menu, i.e. you can flick between scales easily.

It does however use Quicktime. If you don't have Quicktime installed, there is an alternative HTML version, and also a Powerpoint you can download.

Please let me know if this works, is useful, anything I can do to improve the visualisation etc.

Yes, the problem is finding something that everyone already has.

I originally had a ll the audio on my site as Quicktime, thinking it was fairly universal. Only to be told it wasn't, a lot of people don't like it because it's Apple. So I switched over to using Flash. Again, thinking it's quite Universal, after all Youtube is Flash.

Then I find now many browsers start to have issues with Flash, plus you don't have it on iPads. Most of my audio is now Flash, but with a quicktime player that shows when people don't have Flash.

In the case of this page, I would have just had the HTML, except that the Quicktime is actually a much smaller file size.
