    Post time

I've just noticed the post times are GMT.
    Is that intentional?

This one isn't, but one I did in another thread at 6.15pm shows 5.15pm.

This is strange, I looked at it again and it shows 6.15pm and no I didn't misread it the first time.

I thought 'Experiments With Mice' was an instruction manual.

Just tested it in the test forum. Works correctly for me. How do you see it?

    Re: Post time

I have just looked at this thread and noticed that the time of my post was shown as 10.05pm.
I logged in to put a post noting this but the time had changed to 11.05pm which is correct.
I closed IE, re-opened, looked at the post, it showed 10.05pm, logged in and it changed to 11.05pm again.

    No - working as designed.

In your profile, you specify a time zone and machine time is converted tot hat time zone. If you're logged out, it doesn't know which time zone you're in, so you get forum time which is GMT.

    Re: Post time

After putting the last post on I thought it might be that as being a logical explanation.
Only took me two years to notice it.

Flogging a dead horse here, but do you know the offset between GMT/BST and UCT? Cos Brititsh time is still GMT/BST based, not UCT based.

UTC is just a new name for GMT. They are in essence the same. So BST have the same offset from UTC as it have from GMT.

Isn't UCT corrected with adjustments due to irregularity of the Earth's rotation, whilst GMT/BST is not - it has the occassional leap-second ephemeris correction applied to keep it close to UCT? Once upon a time I'd have known the answer to this, but too many grey cells have gone....

Yes, sort of, but I was trying to see what OG knew...
GMT & UTC are not the same, but are always within a second of each other. And they use different bases.

    Kev,
Don't you realise that it was meant to be ironic/amusing?

If you carry on like this, I shall suggest a return to the Julian calendar.

Can you imagine the crowd rushing around asking why you had given them extra days that were identical to those that had already passed?
