    Playing by ear

I disagree, both my niece and and good friend both play sax, one to a very high standard. If you take the dots away from them both, they don't have a clue what to play. Both have tried and both have failed miserably, yet both can sing in tune with no problem!

Your Favourite Picture Of You Playing

I think this is one of my favourite action shots, caught at a wedding when I was with Johnny and the Zephyrs. If I remember rightly we were playing Lucile! I used to love playing along with Tony who was the pianist and a mighty fine boogie woogie player he was too!

    Finally playing again

HI guys and galls, it's been a long time since I posted on here so I'll keep this brief. I have seen the sunlight, things are much brighter now and today I picked up my sax for the first time in fourteen months! I was so scared that I wouldn't be able to play but it seemed to flow quite well...

Flip Flop & Fly - A Little Rock n' Roll

Nice one Dave, loving the way you‘re so happy to step out of your comfort zone! I think I’d have played less notes and tried to take it up the register but if your following an orchestration (if that’s the right word) then you did a great job mate. It’s very hard to play to an automated track...

When you were paid to play, where was it?

This was my last paid gig, not a clip of me playing but the climax of the show! It makes me cry to watch it so I won't but I hope you enjoy it. If you like a little Floyd, our boy Adrian Stokes totally gets the Gilmour bit! View: https://youtu.be/RSRQp0t8jBk

    Lost my mojo!

I cant thank you all enough for the time that you have taken to write these wonderful replies. I have found a new hobby, which, until this evening , was causing name even more grief! I’ve bought a cheap Chinese laser engraving machine. I would get started on it but for some reason, I’m still...

    Lost my mojo!

Since we went into lockdown, I have picked up my sax once! I played Somewhere over the rainbow for the NHS clap and then put it on it's stand. I just cant bring myself to play. No interest what so ever. I can't seem to find any inspiration in anything. I know I'm missing public performances as...

So which kind of soloist are you...??

I guess I'm and 8 and 10. Although I hate the style of 3, I admire anyone that has the skill to play the notes so fluently, cleanly and so quickly!

    Backing Tracks Backing tracks

Try Custom Karaoke, (Karaoke version is the correct website I think) they make great tracks and some are customisable as in you can open up the track as if its on a mixing desk allowing you to remove complete tracks ie. sax or vocals etc. Very good quality
